Not that easy, not that hard

Not that easy, not that hard

I was also in your position once, a little stressed studying for the PSU, doing preparation tests, and summaries of mathematical formulas and that sort of stuff, but the time passes quickly and you return to calm the same way, to get up at 1:00 PM... until it's time to choose your major.

Why did I choose Psychology degree?

I decided to study psychology because I was interested in human behavior and thinking, I always wanted to understand mental processes of people (including mine) in order to help them solve their problems by chating and giving them the necessary tools to face adversity. Since I was a child I’ve also been intrigued by the functioning of the mind and social relationships. I find it an attractive and very fun major because it can help you better understand yourself, also learn more about the scientific method, decision-making, and problem-solving, all of which might help you to think deeply and critically about different issues.

What was I expecting before getting into college?

Before I started college I thought it would be harder than school, and it is but it's not that hard when you get used to it. I was expecting the professors to be excessively demanding with the courses and not so empathetic as my higher-grade partners told me it would when I went in school. I also used to think that I would not have enough time to spend with my family, friends and girlfriend because of  the exams and bunchs of books to read.

   Was it SO bad?

Nope, College is not as hard as it seems, you will probably make some good friends and learn a lot of interesting things. the professors are humans too, most of them are empathetic and even friendly with their students, you will have enough time to rest and have fun with the people you love, skipping classes is permited for some courses that do not demand 100%  of attendence.

Tips for college?

Mind your GPA, eventhough it's not so crucial, it will help you a lot to increase your application score.
Pick a degree you like according to your abilities, weaknessess and interests, YOU are the one who will pass from 5 to 8 years of your life building your future.
Think of the major rather than the school you will apply to. Once in college:

Go to as many classes as possible, do not abuse of those courses that do not demand 100% of attendence, learn how to manage and optimize your time, take a break from time to time, college is not everything and enjoy this beautiful part of your life.
